Week 3: Handle the Truth With Care

This week's scripture

2 Timothy 2:15

"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."

Special Message

This week's lesson will be filled with projects, truth-finding exercises, and problem-solving. You will learn how forensic science can help you find truth in the world around you.

As you pray, worship, and participate in the activities this week, don't forget the Word of God tells us that we should always seek truth and handle it with care.

When it seems like the truth is being hidden or is hard to find, never hesitate to ask God to make you wise and open your eyes. Once you find God's truth, be sure to share it with others.

Solve This Case

Mickey ran back to his locker after school he was very hungry. He had been looking forward to eating his favorite Vanilla Chewy Bars for the past two hours.  When he turned the corner, he noticed his locker door was wide open. As he got closer he realized someone had stolen things from his locker and had eaten most of his bars and left the wrappers on the floor. Mickey was very angry and hungry. He had to solve this mystery. "Who would steal from me?" Micky asked. He forgot about soccer practice and decided to solve the case. He needs you to be his partner because he heard you learned about forensic science at Greater Cleggs Virtual Youth Camp.

Look at the clues below to help Mickey solve the case.

Suspects and Clues

Bob loves vanilla bars and has a loop fingerprint. Bob had sticky fingers.

Peppa never writes in cursive and has a whorl fingerprint. She is also Mickey's little sister.

doc mcstuffins.png

Doc knows Mickey keeps vanilla bars in his locker and loves the song, 'Let it Go'.

Goofy is always hungry and has a golden retriever. He is Docs older brother. He always has crumbs on his mouth.

Mickey

Angry, hungry victim of the stolen chewy bars.

Asks you to help him solve the mystery.

You took fingerprints from all the suspects and the victim.

  • Peppa and Mickey have whorl prints.

  • Bob has loop fingerprints

  • Doc and Goofy have arch fingerprints.

Doc heard Bob mention he was still hungry right after lunch.

Mickey was with Doc right after lunch in gym class. She told him she was only eating veggies and fruit from now on.

Goofy had long blonde strands of hair on his sweater and was with Mickey at his locker this morning before science class. He is allergic to vanilla chewy bars.

Bob wanted to learn the lyrics of 'Let it Go', but Doc said she could only sing and write it in cursive and Bob should find someone who writes in print.

When you ran a D.N.A. test on the 1/2 eaten bar you find that the D.N.A markers are not from people in the same family.

The fingerprints on the locker belonged to Mickey, Goofy and Peppa

The prints on the torn bar wrapper were a partial match to Bob and Peppa.

When you do an analysis on the blond hair clump, you find that it belongs to an animal. Not a human!

Solve the case! Who took the vanilla chewy bar? Who ate it?
